Intercessory Prayer Ministry

Our Intercessory Prayer Ministry is a new prayer ministry effort we are hoping to start. Because we believe that “Prayer is the key that unlocks all the storehouses of God’s infinite grace and power. All that God is, and all that God has, is at the disposal of prayer.” (R. A. Torrey) And that when Jeremiah wrote, “Call unto Me (God) and I will show you great and mighty things that you don’t already know.” Jeremiah 33:3, it tells us that great things happen when we pray. We are asking you to prayerfully consider joining our Intercessory Prayer Ministry.

The plan is to have two individuals who will agree to pray for our services while they are going on, in a special prayer room we will be setting up, for a special move of God’s Holy Spirit in that service. We will be asking them to pray that people present would sense God’s presence in Worship. That God would speak to the heart-felt needs of those present during the service through the preached Word, through song, and sermon. And pray that those present would have the courage to respond to God’s call on their life for salvation, healing, deeper commitment or whatever God has for them.

Our hope is to have enough teams of two sign up that no one would be asked to serve more than one week every two or three months. If you would be willing to serve in this incredible ministry, contact one of the Pastoral Staff.

Prayergram Ministry

The Prayergram Ministry is one of the vital ministries we would like to organize. We constantly have people who are praying for specific needs in the life of our church. But very often, we have no method of communicating our prayerful concern.

The Prayergram Ministry is simply a ministry of individuals who are praying through our Prayer Concerns list, and other special prayer needs that arise in our Church and then take a moment to write a little note to those for which we’ve prayed. The church will provide the Prayergram's and the Envelopes, and we just ask for you to write the notes and send them off.

If you would like to be a part of this ministry, please contact Pastor Ken.

Prayer Chain Ministry

Our Prayer Chain Ministry is one of the most vital ministries we currently have in operation in our Church. It serves the church by interceding on behalf of the special needs and emergency needs which come up in the lives of our Church Family. Currently, there are three teams that are serving the Church in this prayer ministry.

If you would like to be a part of this ministry, please contact Pastor Ken, who will place you on one of the existing teams or begin a fourth team which will be headed by Pastor Lynnette.

Men’s Basketball

Every Monday evening we open our gym to anyone in our Church family or in the community who wants to play basketball.

We are looking for men who like to play basketball and want to have a positive influence on other men who might still be searching for their true purpose in life. If you are looking for a great time of exercise and fellowship, Monday Night Basketball is for you.

The gym is open for basketball every Monday Night from 8:00-9:30 p.m.

Children’s Ministry

“Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6

Here at Sapulpa First Church we are committed to training children to know that God has a plan and a purpose for them. Many opportunities are available for you to get involved.

Children’s Church meets Sunday mornings for children ages 4-5th grade. The children are dismissed from the morning worship service. The curriculum is “Hands on Bible” and is easy to follow with lesson time, craft time, game time, and snack time. Ministry Opportunities are to teach lesson, provide a snack, help with crafts, or be a support to help with the children or start a puppet team.

Kidz Praise meets Sunday evenings from 6-7PM. It is for children 4yrs-3rd grade. Ministry opportunities include helping teach music or provide a snack.

Voices of Praise meets Wednesday evenings at 6:30PM. It is for 4th to 6th grade children. Ministry Opportunities are to help lead the children in music or help with drama.

Kids in Action Wednesday Night Ministry meets Wednesday from 6:30-8:00 p.m. The curriculum, “God’s Big Picture,” helps relate God’s Word to theirs. Each age group has a lesson time, craft time, music time, and snack time. Ministry Opportunities include helping in any of these areas.

Women’s Ministry

Women meeting together to receive love, encouragement and support to help tackle life issues. In the coming new year we will be starting back a Women’s Bible Study, Prayer Partners, and planning for the annual Branson trip and looking for ways to help each other. If you are interested in helping in any way or just being a part there is a place for you. Watch for new and exciting details in the coming months!

Benevolence

Benevolence Ministry coordinates, prepares and serves meals to church members during a time of bereavement or illness as needed. Volunteers are needed that are willing to serve on this team as the occasions arise.

Wednesday Night Meals

The meals served on Wednesday nights are a ministry that runs smoothly with volunteers cooking and cleaning up after the meal. Food, fellowship and Wednesday night Bible Study is such a blessing for those who participate and donate their time and effort in this program. If you like to cook and fellowship at the same time, then this is the team for you!

Small Group (In-Home) Bible Study

L.U.V. Groups are Bible Study groups made up of individuals who desire to grow deeper in their relationship with Christ and with His Family These groups meet weekly or bi-weekly in homes.

The in-home environment provides not only a biblically accurate atmosphere to fellowship and grow in, but offers greater opportunity for developing deeper relationships with other believers. Deeper relationships offer us a greater opportunity to get help in the areas of life that we may need the greatest help.

Opportunities To Participate:

Leaders – We are constantly looking for people who are willing to facilitate (help start the conversations and keep them on task) groups. Training will be provided quarterly to better equip leaders to serve.

Host Homes – We need individuals or couples who would willingly open their homes to a group for Small Group Discipleship. A HOST is someone who

H - Has a heart for people

O - Opens their home for the group

S - Serves them some Coffee or Tea

T - Tells the group “Good-Bye” when they leave.

Participants – People willing to commit to an 8 to 12 week study over a topical or biblical study to help them grow to be more like Christ.

Game Night

Once a month on a Tuesday night our congregation meets in the Family Life Center to enjoy a potluck meal and play table games. This is a wonderful time of enjoying each other’s company and relaxed fun. If you are looking for a place to get to know others in our congregation or you just want to have some fun, this is it.

Special Days

Special Days Ministry plans and decorates for special occasions around the church. We plan the Valentines Banquet, Mother’s Day Banquet and decorate the tables with center pieces for Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas and any other special occasions like our 9/11 Musical. We also plan the Easter Egg Hunt for our children along with a picnic.

We are also responsible for the Communion Table decorations which we try to change each month to match the Season or Holiday. We try to change things and make our lobby a place where visitors feel welcome.

This year we had a pie parlor to go along with our Truck or Treat to reach out to the parents who bring their children to Truck or Treat. We’ve also had some garage sales and served a Wednesday Night Dinner to help offset our expenses.

This Ministry is fun, but it also takes some time. But when you see people having a good time with smiles on their faces you know you have done something to make someone happy, and it makes your heart feel good.

Mens Ministry

Here at Sapulpa First Church of God we believe the role men play in the family, church and society is of vital importance. Healthy men make healthy families, churches and societies. We provide several activities monthly and through out the year that help our men to grow in their relationships with God and others. We have monthly breakfast meetings with men from other churches for fellowship, training and accountability. We also provide annual trips like the father and son fishing trip to Roaring River, a hiking trip through the mountains in Colorado and Promise Keepers. Come and be a part! We know you will love it!

Sunday School

Here at Sapulpa First Church of God we believe Sunday School is extremely important in the life of our congregation by discipling believers, teaching God’s Word, and by providing a place for accountability and relationships. We have ten classes and an infant nursery. Our classes are on Sunday from 9 AM to 9:45AM. Each class is responsible to order their curriculum, keep attendance books and send cards to guest and absentees. Each class is to have a teacher and a substitute who is to be notified if the teacher if unable to attend on a given Sunday. Also, the Sunday School department is part of the Christian Education Committee which conducts monthly meetings. If you have a heart for Sunday School and could help in any of these areas, we would love to have help serve!

Outreach

Here at Sapulpa First Church of God we believe in reaching out to our community by not just telling them about the love of Christ but by showing them the love of Christ in very real and practical ways. We do this in several ways.

We provide a nice coffee mug, and gift bag along with information about our church to all first time visitors to our congregation. We have a great team of greeters. We have a new website with information regarding our church and ministries. Some of our pastoral staff is actively involved in the city Ministerial Alliance. Our Youth Ministry Team runs a city basketball league in the Spring and the Fall for children kindergarten through fourth grade. In the Fall we conduct a “Truck or Treat” where we give out candy to all kids in the community. We also provide a “Fall Festival” free of charge where all kids in the community can come and play games in our Youth Ministry Center. In the fall we also enter the annual Christmas parade. Some new plans for outreach include Adopt-A-Family, Parent’s Night Out, and parent training classes. If you have a heart for reaching out to others and could help in any of these areas, come and join us!

Missions

Our ministry is to lead people to Jesus Christ by going out into our neighborhoods, communities, states, nations and all the world to bring the good news of salvation. In the life of the church, we have financially supported and have personally been involved in these Mission and Outreach Activities:

1. Missions Trips to Mexico, Peru, Guatemala, Brazil, and Honduras.

2. Missions Trips by our Youth to Phoenix, Nashville, Atlanta, and many other cities.

Our church “is” a very giving church. We are also extremely excited about our plans for the future. Below is a list of some things we are planning that you might also want to be a part of:

Video and Cassette Ministry (Recording our services for the shut-ins in our congregation and community)

Missions Trip for 2006

Clothes Drive For Needy In Our Community

Working With John 3:16 Mission

Becoming A Community Safety Command Shelter

Come and be a part of reaching our community and world for Christ!

Facility Care

Do you like working on projects and seeing the results right away? Have we got a ministry for you! We need people that enjoy working with their hands and like to follow through on projects. Some knowledge in plumbing, heat & air, electric, carpentry, painting, landscaping, organizing and general maintenance would be helpful, but a willingness to serve is most desirable. The time required is determined by the project. There are always small projects that need a willing hand. Our goal is to be a good steward with the property with which God has blessed us.

Greeters

Greeters serve from 9:45 AM to 10:15 AM every Sunday morning. Their duties include greeting church family members as well as welcoming new faces. They have guests sign the guest book and fill out a newcomers card. They help seat them and assist with any of their needs. They hand out gift bags to new families. You are the first person that people see, so you are the church to them. An outgoing personality, a smile, and a gentle touch are assets to this ministry. You may also be called on to serve at special services, musicals and other events at the church. Our goal is to encourage return visits and demonstrate a loving, caring church family

Ushers

USHERS do much more than just take up the offering. Many times the first impression new people get is by the actions of the ushers. Ushers make sure Sunday morning programs are given out and help seat newcomers and get their name and address so follow-up can be completed.

USHERS help small children get a drink of water, answer the telephone during services, count those in attendance and try to keep a watchful eye on the parking lot and those coming in and out of the church facilities.

Dedicated USHERS are needed to help with the many activities performed during the services. This is an area we would welcome more participants. This is a great place to use your talents and abilities for the Lord.
